About Pioneer Photo Albums

Pioneer Photo Albums makes photo albums. Pocket albums for 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10 prints, scrapbooks and 12x12 albums that take refills, small albums for a handbag and for Instax prints, magnetic self-stick albums for mixed sizes, refill pages, and boxes for the prints that are not in an album yet. 810 of them, in 656 model families, are available right now, and every one is on Pioneer albums.

The company is family-owned and has been making albums in Chatsworth, California, since 1972. That is the whole company history you will find on this site: the rest of the story is in the albums.

How this site is organised

The front page tells the story of the range: what we make, how we look at it, who does the work, and what people who bought one say. Six shelf pages hold everything by kind: pocket photo albums (304), scrapbooks and 12x12 albums (230), mini and instant-print albums (129), magnetic self-stick albums (42), refill pages and supplies (78), photo storage boxes (27). Every album has its own page with its photographs, its measurements and the other colours in its line. The journal carries three long articles, and one short guide matches an album to a kind of print.

What our albums are, and are not

An album keeps prints flat, dark and apart from each other, in pockets and pages described on the pack as acid-free, lignin-free and PVC-free. It is not a guarantee about how a particular photograph will age: that depends on the print, the room and the years as much as on the album. Where a page on this site touches how photographs age and how they should be stored, it cites the public institution it relies on and prints the date the source was read.

We do not print test certificates or laboratory numbers on this website. The wording on the pack is the claim, and our certification section explains what the words mean and where they come from.

Where the buying happens

We do not take payment, hold stock or ship parcels on this site. Our buttons hand you to checkout with our retail partner, and delivery and returns are handled there. What we do here is describe what we make as accurately as we can and keep the figures current: see how we update.
